Google Patent Search launched

This is the first time that FREE online keyword searching of all U.S. patents back to 1790 has been possible!

Google doesn't currently include patent applications, international patents, or U.S. patents issued over the last few months. Also, be aware of glitches due to faulty OCR. To print or save the patents you find in Google, download this solution for Firefox.

More precise, comprehensive, "advanced" patent searching still requires the U.S. PTO database and other resources. Luckily, Wendt is a U.S. Patent & Trademark Depository Library - we can answer questions and assist people with conducting their own patent searches. For industry, Wisconsin TechSearch does patent searching for a fee. UW researchers who want to initiate the patent process: contact WARF.
